Welcome to the website of the Long Island Chapter of the AATSP (American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese).

The purpose of the Long Island Chapter is to:

  • increase interest in the study of Spanish and Portuguese
  • keep teachers informed of current trends in second language acquisition, meetings, and relevant cultural events
  • promote friendship and professional growth among teachers of Spanish and Portuguese at all levels of instruction
  • provide opportunities for members to communicate with native speakers

2017 Design-A-Card Contest Winners

In addition, we sponsor a variety of activities that provide opportunities to recognize student achievement and talent, including the National Spanish Exam, the Design-A-Card Contest, the Victor Baptiste Essay Contest, and the Judy Abrams/Margaret Fernández Scholarship.
